Hizzoner Giuliani heads to Bama

UPDATE: The Giuliani campaign has made it official. According to an advisory sent out this afternoon, Hizzoner will address the Legislature Tuesday at 12:45.
It’s time for Rudolph Giuliani to get his Good ol’ Boy credentials. The former New York mayor and presidential hopeful is scheduled to address the Alabama Legislature next Tuesday afternoon, two weeks after his primary opponent for the Republican nomination, Sen. John McCain, did the same.
Homewood Rep. Paul Demarco moved a bill in the Alabama House to give Giuliani time on the floor. A similar bill is pending in the Alabama Senate.
Giuliani has held a steady two-digit lead over McCain in the polls for the last several months, but many social conservatives are leery of both candidates, who are relatively liberal by red state standards.
Social conservatives have blasted Giuliani for his soft stance on abortion and his checkered personal life, including two divorces. He’s kind of like Bill, only Republican.
Now Giuliani can make a first impression on Alabamians, at least before anybody here sees this:
