Birmingham Politics 2.1

By Kyle Whitmire

Sooner or later we were going to get our feelings hurt, but that’s OK. About a month ago, not long after we started this blog, we posted the YouTube video attacking Larry Langford, and now everybody else acts like they invented the thing themselves. Oh, well. Here it is again, if you haven’t seen it already. Pay attention this time. Love y’all.

We didn’t do this, but we kind of wish we had. Someone posting under the name CrimsonTide2007 has made and posted a video on YouTube that revisits some of Larry Langford’s bigger headlines over the last couple of years. The video, called “Unanswered Questions,” neglects some of Langford’s older scandals (VisionLand, bribing ALDOT Director Jimmy Butts), but interestingly this is the first such Web 2.0 salvo seen in Birmingham politics. It brings up lots of new questions about fair campaign practice laws and whether or not something like this is even legal. A good time will be had by all. It’s no Obama Apple Ad, but it’s a start.

‘The city of perpetual promise.’ Does that mean incessant failure? Or rather, that Birmingham never gives up hope?
