POLITICS: Sonuvabitch-slap
Here’s the video from yesterday’s Alabama Senate brawl between Sen. Charles Bishop and Sen. Lowell Barron, via Mixed Media, via YouTube, via CNN, via Alabama Public Television. Everybody’s getting so high-and-mighty about Bishop getting down-and-dirty. Please. Bishop never did anything so smart politically. This is better than a campaign ad. You can’t buy this kind of TV. This is what the political junkies call “free media.” Free at least until APT sues us for copyright infringement.
And what’s with all the other media bleeping the profanity or using elipses (these … things) in place of actual language. Do they think they are protecting us from something? Is “…” an accurate quote? Do daily newpaper writers watch primetime television? Saturday morning cartoons? Of course, someone is going to say that these are family newspapers, but consider the message here.
“He called me a son of a bitch,” Bishop said. “Where I grew up, that’s somebody talking bad about your mother. And when he did, I responded with my right hand, and from that point on I don’t know what happened.”
So Barron calls Bishop’s momma a bitch and Bishop turns to blood and makes with the ball-stomp. Now that’s family values.
