It appears the safety devices UAB has in place are ineffective in preventing a crime. Call boxes for example while necessary will not help someone who is being assaulted. Is it not possible to post guards in parking lots and buildings especially in the evening when most all incidents occur? Something more is needed than what is being provided. The tragic murder of Kayla Fanaei has brought focus to all of us who have kids on campus at night. We are frightened as to their safety. It is critical for UAB to step up their efforts in protecting the students. We would like to know what efforts are being made.
