NEWS: When push comes to poll

Larry LangfordLast month we reported how Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford was withholding legal advertising from The Birmingham News because of his personal vendetta against the city’s paper of record. Word comes tonight from one of our reliable tipsters that some sort of push-poll is stirring that pot again. An automatic phone survey asks Birmingham residents whether smaller papers should get advertising or if they agree with a statement by City Councilor Roderick Royal that “the Birmingham News has been around for 101 years.” The poll claims to be conducted by Citizens for a Better Birmingham, whoever that might be.
