Strait Up: George Strait returns to BJCC Arena on January 17

By Brent Thompson

1.jpgGeorge Strait has every right to rest on his laurels. After all, Strait has amassed 50 number one hits and countless honors in a career spanning 26 years. But the country music megastar remains active as evidenced by his seven nominations at the 41st Annual CMA Awards in 2007 (the most of any nominee). Recently, Strait released 22 More Hits, a collection of charted songs and fan favorites including “Amarillo By Morning,” “Cowboys Like Us” and “If You Think You’re Wanting A Stranger.” In addition, the disc includes the new single “How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls.”

On Thursday, January 17, Strait will perform at the BJCC Arena. Emerging stars Little Big Town will open the 7:30 p.m. show. The quartet includes a native of Sumiton, Alabama and two Samford University graduates.

Tickets are $54.50 – $64.50 and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 715-6000.
