Palin or no, book banning in vogue

By Matt Hooper

You don\’92t need Alaska\’92s version of Marge Gunderson to remind you that some people still get in a tizzy whenever they come across a library book that portrays reality. According to a Birmingham News report from Stan Diel, Alabama has its own Sarah Palins marching into local libraries to demand that books like Sandpiper (\’93description of sex offensive\’94), Diary of a Wimpy Kid (\’93doesn\’92t foster a positive self image\’94) and even Little Red Riding Hood (there was wine in that gift basket!) be removed from shelves. Of course, graphic sexual descriptions, negative self-image and wine consumption are all depicted prominently in The Bible: Genesis 19:30-36, Genesis 37:19-24 and Numbers 18:12, respectively.
