Hi. It seems to me that these things are indeed correlated. The Republicans are rolling out the question "Who is Obama," rolling out the emphasis on "Hussein," as the name of our enemy, throwing the word "terrorist" around and leaving people to connect the dots. They had Giuliani on Mornin' Joe doing it. And then there's Fox ...well the name says it all: to trick or deceive. This is unquestionably a new low for American politics. I don't know that it is so much about "racism" as it is an attempt to plug into an even lower common denominator of xenophobia.\
\
All I can say is that it must really be a downer to be on the wrong side of history. It must be a real bummer to have nothing but angry, medieval rhetoric to offer when the people want real ideas and vision for a future. McCain says that he, "knows how to get these things done." He just never quite gets around to telling us HOW and WHEN ...but, in all fairness, he doesn't believe in timetables. He doesn't seem to get it: a timetable is most often the difference between a dream and a plan. Tonight at the debate, Obama said he would prioritize, and McCain said he could get it all done at once. ...And yet, the last debate he had to suspend his campaign and tried to cancel the debate, because he had to focus on the economic meltdown. The guy is just out of touch with reality.
