Local Dish: Wild game dinner at Standard Bistro

Are you game for game? Wild for all things wild? Then tonight’s Standard Bistro wine dinner may be just the thing for you. The monthly dinners begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature wines from around the world paired with contemporary southern cuisine. Wine makers, distributors and local wine aficionados will be in attendance.\

Best Cellars International wines will accompany hors d’oeuvres and the five-course dinner. The menu is as follows:\
\
Hors d’oeuvres:\
Fried quail egg crostinis\
Spoonfuls of hunter’s risotto, truffle oil and Parmesan bison tartare\
\
First course:\
Grilled rabbit tenderloin salad with spiced pecans, Granny Smith apples, fris\’e9e, watercress, goat cheese and honey cider vinegar\
\
Second course:\
Roast wild boar with Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, bourbon and molasses\
\
Third course:\
Seared duck breast with dirty wild rice, wild mushrooms, leeks and porcini jus\
\
Fourth course:\
Grilled venison with baked grit cake, baby carrots, parsnips, turnips and rutabaga in a Muscadine-port wine reduction\
\
Fifth course:\
Kathryn’s pumpkin pie with cinnamon, nutmeg, chantilly cream and candied pumpkin seeds\
\
