Writing Today Open Forum lecture series

The Writing Today Open Forum lecture series continues on Tuesday, Dec. 9, with writer Jerri Beck giving a talk titled “Adventures in Self-Publishing.” An award-winning author, poet and publications specialist, Beck is currently enjoying retirement. Her time now includes writing, bowling, children\’92s storytime activities and volunteering at the Birmingham Zoo. She holds the B.A. degree in both English and History and has completed graduate studies in English and creative writing. She has works published in Poems from The Big Table and Bakers Dozen: Contemporary Women Poets of Alabama, and she wrote Their Country\’92s Pride: The Centennial History of Lyman Ward Military Academy: 1898-1998. \

The presentation is part of a third annual series sponsored by WRITING TODAY, the writers\’92 conference held each March on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College. Intended for writers who want to learn the practice and principles of good writing, networking and publishing, the Open Forum is held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m., through February 2009, at the Colonial Brookwood Village location of Books-A-Million.
