Weekly Digest: Jan. 8-15, 2009

By Glenny Brock

In anticipation of the 2009 Alabama Dance Festival, we’re dancing as fast as we can at the Weekly. To wit:\
\
Courtney Haden’s first column of the year is a splendid rumination on Scrubs, preceded by a description of a vision he had that indicates 2009 is going to be one “cuh-razy” year. Doesn’t that always seem the case? Surely, it’s one of the reasons we always make resolutions \’97 or that people make resolutions for us, as Kyle Whitmire has done for all of Jefferson County in the year’s first War on Dumb.\
\
Upon Further Review, 2008 was amazing, at least for the NFL. The rest of us are glad to see it go. May the new one bring bounty for our appetites, fodder for further imagination and \’97 please, please, every God I can think of \’97 at least a few art-house films to our multiplexes.
