Don’t think twice, Rojo’s all right

By Glenny Brock

This delicious item from Birmingham Weekly columnist Courtney Haden: \
\
It's always a kick when one can make out anything that DJ Bob Dylan says on his\
weekly SiriusXM broadcast of idiosyncratic music, "Theme Time Radio Hour", and this\
week discerning listeners distinctly heard The Voice of His Generation give a\
shout out to the Magic City. After the conclusion of "12 Bar Blues" by NRBQ,\
Dylan mumbled, "They were talking about 12 bars. Well, here's four more that I like.\
If you're down in Birmingham, Alabama, stop by [at] Rojo. It's Spanish for red."\
\
The Highland Avenue restaurant made the cut along with The Three Meads\
in Burlington, VT, the Met Cafe in Rrovidence, RI, and a purported Elmo's Lounge,\
in the shadow of the fictitious Abernathy Building in which Dylan supposedly\
records his popular satellite radio show.\

‘The city of perpetual promise.’ Does that mean incessant failure? Or rather, that Birmingham never gives up hope?
