Bettye Fine Collins’ Truth Problem

After Tuesday’s Jefferson County Commission meeting, Commission President Bettye Fine Collins’ denied any knowledge that the law firm Haskell Slaughter helped secure a $1 million lobbying contract between the county and Book Hill Partners. That conflicts with what Haskell Slaughter attorney Michael Choy told The Birmingham News \’97 that the contract was Bill Slaughter’s idea and Collins knew all along.
