A country-fried movie & music night with The Defibulators
The Brooklyn, N.Y.-based band The Defibulators may call the Big Apple home, but their rural Americana sound is firmly rooted in the South. Dubbed “Citi-billy” by The New Yorker, the seven-piece ensemble is a natural fit for Brooklyn’s bustling roots music scene. On Tuesday, March 17, The Defibulators will perform at Workplay in a “Movies & Music” event that will also feature a screening of the movie Skiptracers. Conceived by four filmmakers – including Alabama natives Harris Mendheim and Andy Stuckey – Skiptracers is a comical look at life in rural Alabama.\

In addition to providing the lion’s share of the Skiptracers soundtrack, The Defibulators recently released Corn Money, their debut for Brooklyn-based City Salvage Records. The group is also the house band for The Rejection Show, a live comedic event at the Upright Citizens Brigade. The band is currently on an extended tour that will include an appearance at Austin’s South By Southwest festival.\

Tickets to the 7 p.m. show are $12 – $15 day of the show – and can be purchased at www.workplay.com or by calling 380-4082.
