Legislating under the influence

By Kyle Whitmire

Bham News columnist John Archibald zings Zeb Little and other Alabama legislators for drinking while legislating. State troopers popped Little last week after he was involved in a drink, hit and run. Little says he will take responsibility, but he doesn’t have to if he doesn’t want to — state law gives him immunity while the Legislature is in session. And the body has a history of driving outside the lines — from Alvin Holmes bluelight taxi to Lowell Barron reenacting Speed Racer and enacting speedy legislation. (Source: Bham News.)
