Tea time in Hoover

By Madison Underwood

Citizens of Birmingham concerned about excessive government spending, among other things, exercised their rights to assemble peacefully on Wednesday, and joined groups in dozens of other cities in a “Tea Party” rally. Speakers at the rally — held at Veteran’s Park in Hoover — estimated that 7,000 people attended the event, though the actual number may have been less. The crowd was certainly in the thousands, though. Alabama gubernatorial candidate Tim James spoke, as did talk radio host Lee Davis and a number of other locally prominent conservatives. Radio hosts Rick & Bubba also attended the event.
