Bruno’s on the brink
By Weekly Staff
Employees of Bruno’s supermarkets are ready to go on strike if the supermarket chain is sold to a company not willing to guarantee their employment. Earlier this year, Bruno’s filed for bankruptcy for the second time in the company’s history.
This time though, the chances of it emerging whole seem thin. The company and the bankruptcy judge are ready to auction off the company’s assets, but the employees union wants assurance that whoever buys the company will have to honor the existing agreements. (Source: Birmingham News.)
