Shrimp and grits at New Orleans Food and Spirits
By Molly Folse
What I’m Eating This Week: Shrimp and grits at New Orleans Food and Spirits in the Vestavia Hills City Center.

New Orleans Food and Spirits.
This place takes a simple approach to shrimp and grits (which is, in fact, a dish that originated in the South Carolina low country) – blackened shrimp, super cheesy cheddargrits, peppers and onions. Next time, I plan to go a little more authentic and try the Taste of N’awlinsplatter, which features gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and sausage and crawfish etouffee for $16.99. New Orleans Food and Spirits is located at 1919 Kentucky Ave. For more, call (205) 822-7655 or check out the NOFAS menu here.
