First, the good news: For the time being, you won’t have to worry about those killer coils of steel rolling off trucks, bouncing down roads, potentially crushing innocent motorists.
Second, the bad news: For the time being, about 1,700 employees at U.S. Steel’s Fairfield plant won’t have to worry about going to work.
The company has told the Birmingham Business Journal it will idle the plant for an indefinite period of time.
