The War of Northern Aggression, which oddly enough Wikipedia does not have an entry for, may have reached an undeniable conclusion on April 9, 1865, but many Southerners just can’t help reliving the fun…of losing.
Latest in the cavalcade of state fraternal organizations to make national and international headlines in the name of C.S.A. heritage: The University of Alabama’s Kappa Alpha chapter. Today, Matt Drudge picked up this AP story about how the frat’s annual “Old South” ritual has ruffled some feathers on the Capstone.
University of Alabama alumnae are upset after Kappa Alpha Order members wearing Confederate uniforms and carrying battle flags paraded past a historically black sorority as the women celebrated the group’s 35th anniversary.
Oh boy, another racially-tinged heritage vs. symbolism argument. Not this again! Well, at least it finally gives us a chance to link to this (video perhaps NSFW?).
