**UPDATE: *8:30 a.m., May 19** ESPN claims that Favre is not scheduled to have surgery after all. But at this point, who really knows for sure.

Brett Favre, the quarterback America used to love and now loathes, is contemplating another return to football after his second retirement in as many years.  Presumably, he’s eying a gig with the Minnesota Vikings.

But, before he makes his return official, Favre has a medical concern to rectify, and he’s apparently called on renowned sports medicine surgeon Dr. James Andrews for help. Favre has a torn biceps tendon in his throwing arm, an injury that hampered him down the stretch of the 2008 season. He has reportedly set up an appointment with Andrews to operate on his arm later this week here in Birmingham at St. Vincent’s Hospital. (Source: St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press)
