Aspirants should come with music and a routine prepared, according to an announcement from PBB leader Mama Dixie.  PBB is seeking additional guest performers, permanent performers and interns, she says.

So, ladies (and forgive the perhaps outdated or politically incorrect term; it’s the one Mama seems to prefer), have you ever dreamed of being a burlesque performer, of seizing the feminine power that God (or the Goddess) has blessed (or cursed) you with?

Do you want to find a new identity, a new persona, or perhaps just super-charge the one you have? Would you like to do things with balloons and lit cigarettes you never thought feasible? Do you want to tease the hapless, testosterone-driven pigs in the audience until they can barely, uh, contain themselves?

Then pick out your costume, dig out that special Julie London or Peggy Lee tune, make up a routine, summon your courage and take it all south on I-59 to that dirty little river town where I sacrificed so many brain cells.

For more information about PBB, visit www.pinkboxburlesque.com. They can also be found on MySpace.

We have written about Pink Box in space before. We told you all about their most recent Birmingham show, in late March at Greencup Books, and previewed their show at Little Willie’s in Tuscaloosa last weekend.
