By Molly Folse

Where there’s thunder, there’s beer! Five Points South will host a block party featuring live music, food and drinks in conjunction with Thunder on the Mountain on Saturday, July 4. More than 2,000 people are expected to view the annual fireworks display from Vulcan in Five Points South this year.

thunder“Five Points is the premier viewing spot in the city for the fireworks display launched from Vulcan,” says James Little, president of the Five Points Merchants Group.  “Family and friends will gather for a good time in Five Points, and our merchants are ready to help them celebrate.”

Highland Avenue between Richard Arrington Boulevard and 20th Street will be blocked off in addition to one half block north and south of Highland on 20th Street. A DJ from Jamm Entertainment will spin tunes from 5-6 p.m. followed by a performance by Mountain Brook’s own Juice from 6-7 p.m. Peanut will perform from 7 p.m. until the fireworks begin at 9 p.m. The fireworks will be synchronized with a specially prepared music track broadcast exclusively on Rock 99.5 FM.
