Stokin’ the Fire competition offers cash for ‘cue

Calling all cooks! Help preserve and restore Sloss Furnaces by participating in the fifth annual Stokin’ The Fire BBQ and Music Festival, Aug. 21-22.

sloss-grillThis year’s event will be all amateur and is sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society. The competition offers over $2,500 in cash and prizes, including trophies custom made by Sloss metal artists. All team entries are $150. Categories include chicken, ribs, dessert, best burger and people’s choice.

In addition to the excellent eats, the two-day festival will also include live music by Cowboy Mouth and other acts, plus Cajun and salsa dancing and an iron pour by the Sloss Metal Artists.
