High pay, little work
If you lose your job due to the climate legislation recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, you could be eligible to receive 70 percent of your current salary for up to three years along with other 
benefits, a Washington Times report revealed on Friday July 3. The primary purpose of the legislation, the American Clean Energy and Security Act, also known as the Waxman-Markey Bill, is to establish a cap-and-trade program for greenhouse gases. If the Senate passes the bill in its current form, it would also provide workers in fossil fuel sectors (coal, oil, etc.) who become unemployed due to the legislation with $1500 for job searching and $1500 more for moving expenses, along with the salary provisions. The program, called the “climate change worker adjustment assistance” program, would cost $4.2 billion over 8 years.
