Sworn Enemies CD Release party at Bottletree

By Glenny Brock

The idea of a tater famine doesn’t sound pretty, but the sound of Tater Famine, the Santa Cruz, Calif., country-punk outfit opening for Sworn Enemies at Bottletree tonight, is plenty pretty.

Scheduled for 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14,  the show is a CD release party for Sworn Enemies’ self-titled new album, a 13-song collection on which tumultuous twang attends every track, from the Americana weepers to the indie anthems. Only two songs from the CD are on the band’s MySpace page but you’ll probably hear all 13 live  tonight and you can hit the merch table afterwards. The show, is 18 and up and tickets cost $8.

The video below — from the Sworn Enemies’ appearance on the Alabama Public Television program We Have Signal: Live from Birmingham — should give you an idea of what you’re in for.

‘The city of perpetual promise.’ Does that mean incessant failure? Or rather, that Birmingham never gives up hope?
