Caputo compiles City Council candidate compendium

By Weekly Staff

Pascal Caputo of the Caputo Report has put together a list of candidates for the August 25 Birmingham City Council elections. For the nine Council districts, Caputo finds 44 candidates who have qualified for the race.

birmingham-bham-city-seal-croppedPresident Pro Tempore Valerie Abbot and District 8 Councilor Steven Hoyt have the least competition for their seats. Abbott is challenged by Howard Bayless and Wil Taylor Hurt Jones, while Hoyt faces only one challenger, Gerri Robinson. Six candidates are vying for the District 7 seat, which was vacated after Councilor Miriam Witherspoon’s sudden death.
