On Sunday, Aug. 9, Dave’s Pub will host a tailgating cook-off and Fantasy Football event called “Pass 4 Paws” to benefit the Alabama Animal Adoption Society (AAAS).  Participants in the cook-off and members of participating Fantasy Football teams will be eligible to win gift certificates from several local restaurants, including Ocean, 26, Rojo, Fuego, Momma Goldberg’s Deli, The Fox & the Hound, On Tap, Lucy’s Coffee & Tea and Bottletree.

Cooks who compete in the tailgating cook-off are asked to bring: 

• a ready-to-serve sample of the best football-season tailgating foods;

• a printed copy of the recipe for publication; and

• serving utensils.

Each competitor will have a tip jar set up in front of his or her entry, so that partygoers can make contributions to AAAS when casting their votes for the winning recipe. One cook will be crowned “The Tailgate Master” and will win a Dave’s Pub gift certificate.

“Pass 4 Paws” starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9. Advance tickets cost $1 and are available at Dave’s Pub and Orbit Salon. Registration for Fantasy Football costs $20.
