My Green Birmingham extreme home makeover
Local green web site mygreenbirmingham.com is holding a contest for Birmingham area homeowners called the “My Green Home Makeover Giveaway.” The winner’s home will be transformed, according to the site, into “an 
energy-efficient, eco-friendly Shangri-La.” Among the goodies included in the package are foam insulation, a tankless water heater, a complete home energy audit and sustainable landscaping design. The other sponsors of the contest include Alabama Telco Credit Union, Alagasco, Pro Energy Consultants and Alpha Homebuilders. You have until Sept. 4 to enter by describing in 500 words or less why your home should be chosen for the makeover. Three homes will be picked as finalists and will be presented on the website on Sept. 9. The readers of the site will then vote to pick the winner.
