in the Woods” educational outreach to children in Autauga, Elmore and Montgomery Counties. The AWF and the Forest Service and will increase the number of students participating in Lanark Field Days at the Alabama Nature Center.
The ANC is the headquarters of the AWF and is located in Lanark, Ala., just north of Montgomery. The center features five miles of nature trails and boardwalks as well as forests, fields, streams and wetlands.
“Youth are losing their connection with the outdoors,” Miera Nagy, U.S. Forest Service supervisor of Alabama’s National Forests, says in an AWF news release. “The nature center programs are a great way to motivate young people to go back outside to learn and play.”
