Kyle — loved the assessment of the Dist. 6 race, and you are absolutely RIGHT! It was a big wake up call for Arrington just to go ahead and stay in Hoover, and for Patrick Cooper to either step up the game and explain himself and his views, or move on; there's too much ambiguity around him, and voters on this side of town felt the disconnect. Also — Word on the western-area streets is that John Rogers is not related to Tyson at all…and it was just a cover for him to endorse her, in exchange for support for his run for Rodger Smitherman's Senate seat (in the event she were to win — HA!).

I know Ms. Smitherman, she is an excellent councillor, I hope she makes a remarkalbe interim mayor, and I'm going to work hard to help her become the people's choice should she decide to run.

Ragtag was meant as a term of affection, of course. Although, I must insist that once someone files their papers and pays their fees with probate, then like it or not, he or she is a “politician.” Not that there's anything wrong with that (to borrow a line from Seinfeld).

In District 2, the difference is that Kim Rafferty is not a politician, but a true servant. Kim Rafferty has the mind of an intellectual, the grit of a Marine, the grace of a lady, but the heart of a servant.
I predict that Kim Rafferty will be noted as one of the outstanding city councilors in Birmingham's history.
