Volunteer clean-up Saturday at Five Mile Creek

By Jesse Chambers

According to an e-mail we received from Black Warrior Riverkeeper, volunteers are needed for a clean-up on Five Mile Creek on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m.-noon.

From Birmingham, take I-65 north to Exit 264, head west on Daniel Payne Drive, then take the first right onto Coalburg Road. After 8.2 miles, turn right on Bevins-Brookside Road and follow the signs to the Five Mile Creek Canoe Company in Brookside.

And yes, girls, size DOES matter. Whoever pulls the biggest tire out of the creek will win a prize.

For information, call (205) 264-8464 or visit www.blackwarriorriver.org.
