Riverkeeper raises some scratch

By Jesse Chambers

SweetWater Brewing Company of Atlanta, Ga., has completed its second annual “Save the Black Warrior” fundraiser, designed to raise money for Black Warrior Riverkeeper, a non-profit environmental group. In the month of September, some bars, restaurants, and grocers in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa sold glasses, t-shirts and paper fish to benefit Riverkeeper’s efforts to monitor pollution in the Black Warrior watershed. Mountain High Outfitters donated prizes for bartenders who raised the most money. The program raised over $13,000, nearly twice last year’s amount, according to a Riverkeeper news release.
