‘Tis The Season for Sony Legacy’s Reissues & Deluxe Editions

The holidays are synonymous with egg nog, yule log and of course…box sets and deluxe editions from Sony Legacy and its family of labels. Here are a few of the many releases that music lovers are hoping to find under their trees this season:

Neil Diamond – Hot August Night NYC (DVD)

The legendary singer/songwriter and consummate showman unveils the latest chapter in the Hot August Night series. This time, imagesDiamond holds court in New York’s famed Madison Square Garden, offering a wealth of well-worn classics with a picture quality so crisp you’ll think Neil’s standing in your living room.

AC/DC – Backtracks

Available in two editions, Backtracks is a combination CD/DVD package that unearths live and studio rarities. In addition, the collection offers lithographs, a vinyl LP and a coffee table book. Fans of the images-2Australian stalwart rockers will find this a necessary addition to their AC/DC collection.

Hall & Oates – Do What You Want, Be What You Are

The top-selling duo of all time gets the deluxe treatment in this four-disc set. Culling material from 1966 to 2009, Do What Youimages-1 Want, Be What You Are offers 74 tracks including 16 previously-unreleased tracks. In addition, the extensive liner notes include in-depth, track-by-track commentary by Hall and Oates.

Various Artists – A Christmas Gift For You from Phil Spector

Finally back in print, the album often called the “greatest Christmas album of all time” gets the royal treatment 46 years after its images-3original release. Spector melds his legendary “Wall of Sound” recording technique with holiday favorites and The Ronettes, The Crystals, Darlene Love, Bob B. Soxx are among the artists that deliver the goods. “Sleigh Ride,” “Frosty The Snowman” and “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” never sounded as vibrant as they do on this album.
