ABOUT BIRMINGHAM WEEKLY
Birmingham Weekly is the Birmingham market’s highest read alternative publication and second only to the Birmingham News in readership of all newspapers (according to the Media Audit). The Weekly’s award-winning coverage includes city and state news, national and local music, film, theatre, visual arts, literature and contemporary Southern cuisine.
SPECIAL ISSUES:
In addition to publishing the Weekly every Thursday we also make several special projects available to our readers. Once a year the MENU OF MENUS features menus and recipes from 100 plus restaurants and the results of our reader’s poll in which folks vote for their favorite eateries and dishes. Our annual special issue calendar also includes LIVE BIRMINGHAM, THE ANNUAL DOWNTOWN ISSUE, HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE, THE WOMEN’S ISSUE and more.
NATIONAL AFFILIATIONS:
Birmingham Weekly is a member of the Association of Alternative Weeklies (AAN) and partner in the national sales group AWN (Alternative Weekly Network).
PUBLISH DATE
The Weekly is published every Thursday, fifty-two times a year. In the event of a holiday falling on a publish date, deadlines may be moved forward one day and the Weekly may be distributed on a Wednesday or Friday.
CIRCULATION
20,000 copies of the Weekly are distributed free of charge in the metro Birmingham area at over 600 high traffic locations areas, restaurants and retail outlets.
READERSHIP
According to the Media Audit, the Weekly has a cumulative readership of 120,000+ adults, the highest readership of all alternative publications in the Birmingham market.
POLICIES, PREMIUMS & DISCOUNTS

COLOR:
Spot and process four color are available in the Weekly. Spot colors are $160 each. Four color process is $475. Color positions may be limited in any given issue.

PLACEMENT:
Desired placement will be given whenever possible. Placement may be guaranteed in certain positions with an additional premium of 15%.

PAYMENT TERMS:
All advertising must be paid in advance until a payment history has been established or a signed credit application has been approved. All credit-approved advertising is due upon receipt. Recognized agencies may receive a 15% commission on space charges. Contracts canceled prior to fulfillment may be subjected to a rate adjustment.

PRE-PRINTED INSERTS:
The rate to place pre-printed inserts in the Weekly is $40 per thousand for a full-run. Other rates apply for partial runs. Ask your rep about circulation zones and partial run rates.

POLICIES:
Birmingham Weekly accepts no liability for its failure, for any cause, to insert an advertisement. Advertisers and agencies are liable for all content of advertisements. The publisher reserves the right to revise or reject, without notice, any advertisement at any time.
BIRMINGHAM WEEKLY MECHANICAL SPECS
The Weekly can accept camera-ready art in digital format via CD, DVD or e-mail (ads@bhamweekly.com). Acceptable formats are .pdf, .tif, .jpg and .eps files with all fonts embedded. *All fonts/copy must be embedded or outlined (editable text within PDF files can change or drop out at press.) All grayscale art should be scanned at 180 dpi and all color art at 300 dpi. All color files should be prepared in CMYK.
