Volunteer open house at Vulcan

THE BIG GUY IS WAITING TO SEE YOU: When was the last time you went to Vulcan anyway? Probably when he was in pieces on the ground. That's a shame. You just drive by the world's largest cast iron statue like it's 96 feet of nothing? The observation deck has the best view of Birmingham there is, and the interactive exhibits in the park museum include the torch that Vulcan held for almost 50 years (which you can turn on with the switch of a flip, or vice versa). Do you want to know what else is there? Once you find out you'92ll want to tell everybody. Vulcan Park really needs volunteers to greet and educate visitors on Magic City history, assist with special events and more. On Monday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the park is hosting a volunteer open house. Show up to find out how you can contribute your time, skills and talents to the team. Refreshments will be provided. Call (205) 933-1409 or go to www.visitvulcan.com for more information.
