Miss California and Miss USA runner-up Carrie Prejean appeared on the Today show Tuesday morning to defend herself after rumors spread on the Internet that she had posed for photos topless. Prejean characterized the photos as modeling (because in the post-Abercrombie & Fitch world, models no longer have to wear clothes).
However, Las Vegas television reporter and Miss USA judge Alicia Jacobs described the photos differently, saying they were "not befitting a beauty queen."
Last week the Alabama House passed a resolution commending Prejean for speaking against gay marriage during the Miss USA contest. Rep. Jay Love introduced the bill.
Prejean came in first runner-up in the Miss USA competition. Afterward she claimed that judge Perez Hilton had kneecapped her for not speaking in favor of gay marriage when asked about it during the competition.
On Today, Prejean said she had posed for the photos when she was 17, but the photos appear to have been taken after Prejean's breast enlargement surgery earlier this year. The Miss California pageant paid for Prejean's breast augmentation. Prejean believes in God but apparently not in what God gave her.
Prejean said that the photos were posted on the Internet in an attempt to mock her faith, because, you know, that's why all those other photos of naked women are on the Internet, too.
