Carol Robinson of The Birmingham News has the story today that five Birmingham Police Officers have been fired after video surfaced of them beating an unconscious man following a high speed chase in 2008.
The video clip, which can be seen below, picks up the chase along what appears to be U.S. Hwy 31 at the I-459 interchange in Hoover. A white minivan darts through traffic, appears to sideswipe a Hoover officer, and then makes its way onto the 459 ramp. Birmingham officers then appear to force the minivan off the side of the ramp, causing it to flip and roll several times, ejecting the suspect, Anthony Warren, into a ditch. That is when the five Birmingham officers descend upon Warren's unconscious body and beat him.
