HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW? Better yet, how does your community grow? How does this community grow? That question has long been a consideration of members of Catalyst of Birmingham '96 the organization'92s explicit mission is to make Birmingham a better place to live. The latest way Catalyst hopes to accomplish this is with the establishment of the Catalyst Community Garden Coalition, a project that will support Birmingham's existing community gardens continue to thrive and assist communities that want to create gardens of their own. To kick off the CCGC project, the Catalyst holiday party on Thursday, Dec. 18, will also be a fundraiser to benefit West End Gardens. A minimum $10 cash donation will help to sustain the pretty plot established by Urban Ministries '96 and will get you food, drink and a chance to win door prizes. The party starts at 6 p.m. at What'92s on Second, 2306 Second Ave. North. For more information, call (205) 292-2148 or visit www.hiptobecivic.com.
