“Fame and Shame”

24 paintings by art students from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) will be featured in this one-night exhibition. The works were created by students in a painting class taught by Gary Chapman. Each student artist was asked to select a famous person or even cartoon character who intrigued them, choose an archetypal image of that person or character and translate onto canvas. Some of the subjects include Audrey Hepburn, Ralph Kramden, Bettie Page, Timothy Leary, Twiggy, Minnie Pearl, Pikachu and Anna Nicole Smith.
