Bobby Humphryes has volunteered to take a 20% cut in his County Commissioner salary as an act of solidarity with the county’s hourly workers, who have had their workweek cut back from 40 hours to 32. However, Jefferson County Attorney Jeff Sewell has advised Humphryes that any voluntary pay cut may, by law, have to be permanent, lasting even into following terms.
